POPULATION REDISTRIBUTION AND CONCENTRATION IN MALAYSIA, 1970-2020

چکیده

This paper uses published census data to examine population redistribution and concentration in Malaysia since 1970. The growth rate varied widely across states districts, between urban rural areas. Consequently, the has become ever more concentrated cities. In 2020, 41% of lived 12 making up 2.6% total land area. About one four Malaysians live Greater Kuala Lumpur (commonly known as Klang Valley – comprising Federal Territory adjacent districts Selangor), compared 4.3% areas increased from 28% 1970 75% most are rapid major cities pose sustainable development challenges. However, agglomeration diverse labour pools provides economies scale.
